pureed carrot soup for a parasite cleanse
"this may be on of the easiest things you will make - rough chopped veggies, five ingredients, a lil bone broth, and some serious loving nourishment to your body"

recently my hubby and I decided to do a parasite cleanse, not because we thought we had parasites, but because traditionally once or twice a year cultures weaved in a time of cleansing and fasting; when the body begins to feel heavy, the mind gets a bit sluggish, the seasons start to change - we are called to clear out and start fresh. after the height of the summer and our daughter starting her freshman year of high school, we were craving routine and vitality.
in my practice i don't offer harsh cleanses, i never recommend them for pregnant women or folks navigating serious chronic illness, nor do I think they are for everyone; however if your body is calling for some lightness - here are the tools I use at home and in my practice to cleanse.
how to support yourself on a cleanse
traditional cleansing herbs - wormwood, black walnut, ginger, garlic, turmeric, clove and more; these are considerd anti-parasitic, antimicrobial, and often bitter tasting. click here to order your own parasite herbs from my online shop (there is a capsule version or tincture version - you only need one)
fiber- rich herbs i use this brand called gut sweep - all organic and sustainable - to help the bowels move everything out. aka take those toxins to the toilet. make sure you are drinking plenty of water and pooping daily before a cleanse.
liver tonic support herbs - cleavers, nettle, red clover, burdock, dandelion, licorice root, milk thistle. the liver has a busy job cleasnig - make sure it is supported.
bone broth - click here for my bone broth recipe made with mineral rich & immune supportive herbs
light fresh pressed juices - cucumber, celery, lemon, fresh herbs
easy to digest foods - millet porridge, boiled chicken, boiled veggies, and of course - this carrot soup.
hydration + electrolytes
optional support : epsom salt baths, sauna therapy, sweat therapy, healing meditations and speaking healing thoughts over your body "my body is capable of clearing out what no longer serves me so my light can fully shine"

i think a big misunderstanding with cleanses is that you are supposed to deprive the body; in reality your body naturally knows how to cleanse - your liver, gut, and kidneys are doing it all the time - pulling out excess toxins and hormones and peeing or pooping them out daily (to a small extent you skin detoxes through sweating).
in order for your detox organs to do their job and...well detox, they need nutrients (they don't work for free) - think b vitamins, magnesium, glutathione, vitamin A, vitamin C, etc. if you deprive your body of nutrients by not eating during a cleanse- your detox organs will also be deprived and not optimally function; to me a cleanse should be removing things that makes your detox organs work overtime - pesticide foods aka conventional foods, processed foods, sugar even maple and honey, alcohol, dairy, and gluten. (perhaps not forever although there is no benefit to ultra processed food, alcohol, and excess sugar so you may choose not to include some things back in) while simultaneously adding in nutrient dense and mineral rich foods that are easy to digest and be absorbed - like this pureed carrot soup, broth, light juices, and steamed or boiled veggies. boiled veggies and meat are easier for your body to absorb so your gut doesn't have to work as hard.
as always if you have any questions or need support, please feel free to set up a session with me. my passion is helping women go from feeling low and slow to turning the lights back on! it is possible for you to feel wonderful, vibrant, and alive in your body - i watch it happen to countless other women, and it can certainly happen for you! now let's make some carrot soup

carrot soup recipe
gather ingredients:
remember - always organic, we are healing here - the gut is damaged by glyphostate in conventional produce (it was originally designed to be an antibiotic) i promise what you pay in a bit more money in organic produce, you will get back 10 fold in your health, healing, and less doctors visits
7-8 carrots
one to two onions
a whole clove of garlic
one inch of ginger - peeled if possible
***about 2-3 cups of bone broth and 2ish cups of water (enough to cover all of your veggies once they go into the stock pot, can add more if needed)
optional can of coconut milk or cream.
*** you could use all bone broth or all water, it truly doesn't matter you just need liquid- I like adding my chicken bone broth for a bit more flavor, collagen, and all of the mineral rich herbs that are in it to really amplify this soup, i don't do all bone broth because I don't want my carrot soup to taste to "chickeny" but please feel free to do all broth or all water if that is easier for you - like i said you just need enough liquid to boil the veggies it in.
To make:
rough chop all your veggies - carrots, onion, and garlic. I never peel my carrots - i like things simple and there is good fiber in the skin
add all veggies to a dutch oven or stock pot
add celtic sea salt
cover with bone broth and water
cover your pot and cook for about 35 minutes on medium low heat. set a timer and go about your business
once cooked, stick a fork in the carrots and make sure they are soft - if not cook 5-10 more minutes until soft
turn off the heat and blend with an immersion stick - you could also put this in an upright blender, please be careful blending hot liquids, i have had hot liquid jump out of the pot and burn me. it should be thin and smooth
taste your soup - does it need more salt, maybe some pepper? a bit more water if it is too thick.
add optional coconut milk or coconut cream for a luxurious taste
that's it! grab a fancy bowl or a mug to sip it, top it with some goat cheese, if you're fine with gluten maybe some crusty sourdough (not on a cleanse)
store it in a ball jar for 3-4 days in the fridge - although it likely won't last that long
5 minutes of prep and a little immersion blender action and you'll have gut healing goodness!
